"If my fellow doormen won't take their duty seriously, then I, Tippy Dorman, like Horacio Hubbs, must be the lone hero wrestling back control with both hands. Today, I shall become... Doorman of the City."
Tippy Dorman

"Doorman of the City" is the seventh episode of the first season and the seventh overall of LEGO City Adventures.

Synopsis[]

During the Hands Off Day! holiday, people in the city don't use their hands for anything.

Plot[]

The episode begins with a brief history of how cavemen invented doors and doorknobs before cutting to Tippy Doorman tending to his usual duties of being a doorman. He admonishes another doorman, Cortez, for opening a door for a lady with shopping bags and a small dog with a left-handed McKinley wide swing instead of an inward, right-step Bromberg with optional Italian hand flourish. Duke DeTain drives by in search of the Ice Cream Truck bandits. Soon, the next day turns up, a day that Tippy dreads.

Today is No Hands Day, in honor of Horatio Humphrey Hubbs, who fought off a crew of pirates led by Captain Nosepatch with both of his hands chained behind his back. Everyone is seen attempting to accomplish using their feet or artificial hands without using their real hands, but Tippy finds it an insult to all doormen. He decides to gain respect for all doormen in the city by going around the city opening doors for people using hands. Chief Wheeler attempts to give Tippy a ticket for using his hands on No Hands Day, but is called to the bank to stop the Ice Cream Truck bandits.

To try to gain as much respect as possible for doormen, Tippy heads over to the bank and unwittingly helps the Ice Cream Truck bandits open the Securi-Vault 5000 before they call kids using their ice cream call to baffle the police. Tippy now feels regret for his actions and he attempts to press the secure button for the bank, but ends doing it with his head after tiring out his hands from using them. Later at night, Cortez compliments Tippy for having fun with his work using hands. The episode ends with Cortez opening the door for Tippy, but he immediately slams it after he admonishes him for using an inward right-step Bromberg instead of a backhand side-step Marlow for a doorman after 10 p.m.
